Funded PhD candidates at the OMDS

Funded PhD candidates obtain a university- or third-party funded position (“praedoc”) at the University of Vienna under the supervision of a Principal Investigator of the OMDS. As OMDS members, you benefit from the supervisory structure of the doctoral school, organize and/or take part in cohort-related activities, and can apply for additional funding for research and travel expenses.

Step 1

Application for an Open Position

Praedoc positions will be announced in pooled and individual calls of the OMDS.

Step 2

Application for Admission to the PhD Program

Please note: Even if you have obtained a praedoc position (i.e., you are employed) at the University of Vienna or are doing your doctorate within the framework of a scholarship or funded project, you must apply for admission to the doctoral program. This does not happen automatically.
